SAT Math Camp Course Description

This intensive course is designed to equip students preparing for the SAT with a solid foundation in essential math concepts and the skills needed to succeed on the SAT Math section. By reviewing key topics in algebra, problem-solving and data analysis, advanced math, and geometry—including common challenges and strategies—students will approach the exam with greater confidence, accuracy, and speed.

Through lectures, guided practice, personalized feedback, and active class participation, students will develop the skills necessary to tackle math questions effectively and achieve success on the SAT. Students will also learn the following:
 • Algebra, including linear equations, functions, and systems of equations
 • Problem-solving and data analysis, including ratios, percentages, and statistics
 • Advanced math, including nonlinear equations and functions
 • Geometry and trigonometry, including area, volume, and triangles

This course will use the writing process to teach middle school students creative and critical thinking techniques and editing skills to produce finely wrought pieces of writing in various academic genres such as persuasive essays, personal essays, speeches, podcast scripts, literary analysis, and timed writing. Students will do writing exercises during class and for homework. Lessons will feature one-on-one conferences with the teacher to discuss each student’s work-in-progress. 

Part One will focus on thinking skills, helping students come up with fresh and insightful ideas for their writing. It will also cover how to avoid plagiarism while doing research.

In this introductory philosophy and writing course, students will learn to understand important topics in political philosophy, ethics, epistemology, and metaphysics, and will also obtain and refine their skills in logical reasoning, critical analysis, argument construction, and effective writing. Above all else, they will learn to read, understand, and analyze challenging texts. 

In the first semester of this course, we will cover three different units: Ethics, Epistemology, and Political Philosophy. 

Halfway through the first semester, students will begin developing an outline for a paper that applies philosophical concepts from class to a contemporary issue or discussion. Working on this through the end of the semester, students will complete a short paper that should integrate class material with their own thinking and analysis.  

In the second half of this course, we will cover two sub-units within metaphysics: first, free will and moral responsibility, and second, the mind and personal identity.

By the end of the second half of the course, students will have completed a longer philosophical essay, applying all the skills they’ve learned thus far. 

Every class will include deep analysis of complex, complicated texts, large and small group discussions, and workshopping students’ ideas as they form and evolve. In doing so, students will build the analytical and communication skills necessary for strong philosophical argumentation. The primary intention of this class is not to provide students with a definition of various philosophical theories and facts about the thinkers behind them. The goal of this class is not to memorize the content. Rather, this class is intended for students who are interested in the challenge of dissecting complex ideas and engaging with each part of different philosophers' arguments.

Reading Explorer series prepares learners for academic success with highly visual, motivating National Geographic content that features real people, places, and stories.

This course is designed to help you gain a deeper understanding of literary analysis, introduce you to assignments and lessons similar to those in IB / AP courses, and your standard English Literature curriculum. It includes texts from a wide range of genres and literary periods, aiming to improve your skills in organizing, writing, and editing essays and other writing assignments.

We will delve into two captivating books:  The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Hobbit
Each of two literary works has been adapted into a movie, providing not only additional engagement for readers but also opportunities to compare various narrative techniques.

Overview:
The Great Writing provides clear explnations, academic writing models, and focused practice to help students write great sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Every unit has expanded vocabulary building, senetence development, and more structured final writing tasks.

This course is designed to help you gain a deeper understanding of literary analysis, introduce you to assignments and lessons similar to those in IB / AP courses, and your standard English Literature curriculum. Course Overview:

Part Two will focus on revision skills, looking at structure and style in various genres. Students will improve their organization of ideas, sentence structure, diction, rhetorical and literary devices, grammar, and punctuation. During the course, they will write four essay drafts (persuasive, synthesis, personal, and literary) and get feedback from the teacher on each. They will write three content tests and one grammar quiz. They will finish the course by revising one of their essay drafts, showcasing what they’ve learned about structure and style.

SSAT Upper Summer Intensive Program｜3-Week Boot Camp (34 hours instruction + 34 hours supervised study)

Designed for fluent English-speaking Chinese students aiming for top SSAT scores—this course helps students leverage their “native speaker’s intuition” and transform it into “test-taker’s precision.” Through a focused, three-week summer schedule, students will systematically identify and address weak points, while receiving targeted training to build a strong balance across vocabulary, reading, and writing skills—ensuring peak performance on test day.

Course Description: This course will provide high school students with an intensive introduction to the craft of qualitative research. Students will learn both the logic of qualitative research in the social sciences and humanities, as well as how to implement a variety of the most common methods. The final project will be a research proposal which will prepare students to write their own original research and submit it for publication in a student journal. 
In part one of the class, we will discuss the logical foundations of qualitative research, the sorts of research questions one can answer with qualitative data, and how qualitative data can be useful to quantitative or STEM-oriented students and professionals. After reviewing the foundations, we will discuss research design and literature reviews.
In part two, we will discuss commonly used qualitative research methods in industry and academia. This includes interviews, archival & library studies, content & discourse analysis, ethnography & field work, and finally comparative methods & case studies.
The final part of the class will serve as a workshop where students develop their own research proposals on a topic of their choosing. Students will meet individually with the instructor to receive feedback and develop a plan for how to complete their project. Lastly, students will participate in peer-review and learn how to assess the value and quality of qualitative research.

The epic poems of Homer, The Iliad and The Odyssey, are among the foundational texts of western literature. For nearly 3000 years, listeners and readers have followed the clever Odysseus in his ten-year struggle against the sea-god Poseidon and a host of hazards to get home to his wife and son. Students will travel with Odysseus through this course, learning about ancient Greece and its myths, story-telling and its growth into literature, leadership, heroism, and the power of the family bond. Assignments will include in-class and homework assignments and quizzes, a group project, and a final essay.

This twelve-class intensive course is designed to give students preparing for the SAT a strong foundation in English grammar and the knowledge needed to succeed on the SAT Reading section. By studying the basic elements of grammar—including fine details, special cases, and common mistakes—students will master the art of clear, grammatical writing and approach the SAT exam with greater confidence and ease.

Through lectures, group practice, one-on-one feedback, and active class participation, students will develop the skills necessary to tackle Reading questions effectively and achieve success on the SAT. Students will also learn the following:
