This 16-week course invites students into imaginative and meaningful stories filled with friendship, adventure, humor, and personal growth. Through four engaging novels— Charlotte's Web, The Wild Robot, James and the Giant Peach, and How to Train Your Dragon—students will strengthen their reading comprehension, develop deeper understanding of characters and themes, and expand their vocabulary and expressive language. The course focuses on building reading stamina, improving analytical thinking, and encouraging creative and structured writing, all within fun and accessible storytelling worlds. 

 

 Course Objectives 

Develop reading comprehension through structured analysis of plot, character, and theme 

Improve reading fluency, pronunciation, and expressive reading skills 

Expand vocabulary and understanding of descriptive and figurative language 

Strengthen ability to infer meaning and interpret character motivations 

Build writing skills through creative, analytical, and reflective tasks 

Encourage discussion, prediction, and critical thinking in response to texts 

Foster confidence in both spoken and written English 

 

 This course uses engaging and imaginative novels to help students strengthen their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills. Through guided reading and structured activities, students will explore characters, plot development, and themes while developing confidence in expressing their ideas. Each lesson supports gradual skill growth, encouraging students to think critically, make connections, and respond to texts both verbally and in writing.
